Adding Wishlist Feature to your WordPress Website: Everything you Need to Know

Adding Wishlist Feature to your WordPress Website

Happiness is not in money but shopping. And it is true; sometimes, even just window gazing puts us in a good mood.

Despite all our maturity and seriousness, we rejoice at gifts and would be happy to write a letter to Santa. Any gift or a purchase is a reason to express gratitude to loving persons or treat yourself a little, as long as each of us has our wish list.

Time passes, and now almost 70% of people shop online. The website wishlist turned out to be a must-have for clients and marketers. Clients use it as the pre-last step to purchase, usually using sales or discount coupons.

On the other hand, marketers use it to measure the target audience’s interests and a source of clients data to build an effective promotion strategy. The website wishlist reflects the desires and preferences of customers, while purchase data reflects their actual possibilities.

If you have a ready website or just develop it, you need a wishlist plugin to turn visitors into clients. I’d like to provide you with information on wishlist plugins for WordPress, as in 2022, WordPress powers 43.3% of the web. In particular, what are the top WordPress wishlist plugins, and how to add a wishlist to WordPress sites?

What Is a Wishlist? And When Do You Need this Feature?

The wish list is a functional part of any e-shop, as far as it:

  • shows pent-up demand and encourages clients to return to your e-shop;
  • traces metrics of the site to specify why clients leave it;
  • can identify trends and correct merchandising;
  • makes possible comparing of bought and desirable goods;
  • minimises losses by informing clients on new products;
  • attracts new visitors;
  • is a channel of communication with your clients, i.e., you can mail attractive offers, bonuses, and discounts;
  • gets more information on your clients and tracking the efficiency of promotional campaigns;
  • makes it possible to carry out sales actions, unique thematic propositions, or pleasant trifles presentations.

I think you understand now why the wishlist is necessary for every site. But further information is more critical 一 let’s move onwards and upwards.

How to Add a Wishlist Button in WordPress? Top 5 Plugins

First, I’d like to emphasize that there are a lot of decent WordPress plugins for WooCommerce, both free and not. They are easy to use and aims to customize your e-wish list by:

  • adding sliders and/or carousels for better product presentations;
  • sorting and/or filtering products;
  • custom description of products;
  • selection of language and/or local versions;
  • embedding internet marketing tools;
  • linking to social media;
  • searching;
  • adding information on bonuses, discounts, and coupons;
  • providing custom product tabs.

So, my list of top 5 WordPress wishlist plugins is as follows:

Let’s start from the very beginning and consider the pros and cons of each of them. Cons presented herein are based on feedback from users.

YITH WooCommerce Wishlist – WordPress plugin

What would your site look like?

elementor woo commerce website wishlist sample

The key features of this plugin are:

Free version:

  • possibility to select a page the wishlist to be published;
  • customization of columns, providing color differentiation of product added to wishlist;
  • specification of button positions (i.e., where to place Add to Wishlist button, to show or not Remove from wishlist button);

For the premium version:

  • possibility to create as many wish lists as users want and add/remove/search/arrange/move to another wishlist goods, as well as set options on visibility/private/share for each wishlist;
  • possibility to communicate with clients by email;
  • customize page layout and/or add widgets to the page;
  • showing product price variation;
  • add optional notes to each wishlist.

But the main feature of this plugin fully appreciated by feedback is the possibility to share the website wish list on social networks. Just imagine how it can affect conversions!

In fairness, I’ve collected cons as negative feedback to this plugin. Mainly, users dislike essential differences between the free and premium versions. In particular, the free version does not envisage widget usage, renaming, and deleting of wishlists, and looks contradictory with some WordPress.

JetCompareWishlist Plugin for Elementor

What would your site look like?

The plugin makes it possible to compare prices for products 一 somewhere it can be cheaper, right? This alone feature gives it the right to be on this list. In general, it provides fine-tuning Compare and Wishlist pages on WooCommerce. There are many functions 一 not only to ensure that the purchase is correct. So, the main features are as follows:

  • compare some items with their prices, ratings, etc.;
  • presentation of comparison data
  • build styled wishlists with many widgets;
  • add compare and wishlist buttons;
  • show the number of times products were included in the wishlist.

First, I would like to pay more attention to comparison. There are a lot of plugins aimed at price comparison, but the only JetCompareWishlist Plugin envisages a wide range of options to be compared: prices, rating, feedback, etc. Besides, widgets are the focus of the Crocoblock plugins (including the stylish appearance of all Crocoblock plugins). One can add the wishlist to the wordpress site, including the following 6 widgets:

  •  wishlist widgets;
  •  wishlist count button;
  •  wishlist button;
  •  compare widget;
  •  compare count button widget; and
  •  compare button.

So, what about the cons? This plugin is, of course, out of the ordinary, but it can’t be so sweet. According to feedback, users would like to have design and dynamic templates for free.

What’s the price?

It starts from $15 per year.

  • navigation and item management tools (i.e., the item will be transferred to the basket with simultaneous taking it from the wishlist);
  • possibility to share your wishlist on the social nets;
  • Customization of theme styles, Wish List Table columns.

– premium version:

  •  including marketing tools such as promo emails, marketing analytics;

The cons: there were no identified crucial cons. The users sometimes complain about support, but this wishlist plugin generally fulfills the declared possibilities.

Combo WooCommerce wishlist & Compare plugin by TmdStudio | CodeCanyon

What would your site look like?

elementor wishlist and compare website sample

This WordPress wishlist plugin is a two-in-one extension to the WooCommerce plugin. I mean, it combines comparison and wish lists like the JetCompareWishlist Plugin, and the only exception here is the focus on the wishlist, but not on the comparison. Therefore, the main features of the plugin are:

  • customization of tables to compare goods on their prices, ratings, feedback (including templates);
  • positioning of the Wishlist button on the product loop and/or single product pages;
  • positioning of customized texts as a button;
  • multiple options for different features associated with compared goods;
  • SEO optimization;
  • adaptation for different browsers and layouts and focus on usability, customization of colors, icons, and fonts.

The cons: lack of widgets associated with wishlists, but on the other hand, widgets are not the scope of this wishlist plugin.

Pricing: there are two licenses 一 a regular price of $9 per year (if you develop a single end product, not for a charge) and an extended price of $75 per year (a product for a charge).

WPC Smart Wishlist for WooCommerce – WordPress plugin

What would your site look like?

smart wishlist website sample

Meet the last but not least plugin in my list. The word Smart in its name means its simplicity, intuitively understandable interface, and usability. This wishlist plugin has free and premium versions with the following features:

Free version:

  • fully description of product details;
  • easy management of website wish list by users;
  • customizable positioning of the wish list button or link, application of different colors for wishlist popups;
  • management of products in the wishlist (add, remove, check out, etc.);
  • possibility to share wishlist on the social nets;

– premium version:

  • notes for each product added to the wishlist;
  • 365/24/7 support;
  • matching to the theme design;

The cons: some users consider the free version to be old-fashioned and needs to be improved. The premium version should be more customizable.

Pricing: the price of the premium version ranges from $29 to $ 99, referring to the number of websites to be built.

To Sum it Up

The list of best plugins intended for adding wishlists is not limited to those presented here. They cover the primary needs of developers, admins, and/or marketers. Try each of them to be at the cutting edge of web design. But also to make your site visitors close to their wishes coming true.
